To format or restore factory default setting can be done with or without a computer system, If you just want to wipe your device of all personal data, preferences, phone book entries (contacts), calendar, pictures, music, videos etc., you may do so on the device itself. Follow the directions below: Press the MENU key and select OPTIONS > SECURITY > GENERAL SETTINGS > MENU KEY > WIPE HANDHELD FUNCTION
Confirm that you want to erase all data on the Blackberry, and be sure to select the option to include any third party applications that you might have installed (e.g. Google maps or the Opera web browser). As a final confirmation step, you'll be asked to enter the word "blackberry", and then the resetting process will begin.
