After going through internet browsing bundles of several network operators in Nigeria, namely Globacom, Zain, MTN, Etisalat, MultiLinks, Zoom Mobile, Starcomms, Swift, Mobitel, ipNX, and Visafone, we have come up with a list of some of the cheapest internet browsing packages in Nigeria. We found that the price of cheap internet browsing packages in Nigeria ranges from N1,000 to N3,500, while network operators like Glo mobile, MTN, Swift Networks, Etisalat, Airtel (Former Zain), and MultiLinks have some of the most pocket friendly internet bundles in Nigeria. This document focuses on price, the quality of the internet service is not considered. However, most Nigerian network operators do not offer consistent service quality throughout the country. A network may offer quality service in an area and poor services in other areas, so we leave it to the user to determine quality issues. It is also important to note that most cheap internet browsing packages are for entry level users who have limited use of the internet. Some only offer enough data or time for sending and receiving emails, catching up with friends in social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter and limited internet browsing. Some of the cheap internet browsing packages will make sense for browsing with your mobile phone. If you spend a lot of time on the internet or do a lot of upload or download, most cheap internet browsing packages will not satisfy your needs. Visafone with its offering of 30-day 24/7 internet access limited to 1.2GB for N3,000 is our best pick for cheap internet access in Nigeria, because it strikes a good balance between price and affordability. Glo Always Macro and Airtel Smartphone with their offering of 1GB for N3,000 is still a compelling offer, especailly if you already have a GSM/WCDMA hardware (phone or modem). So, if you need more than 500MB within 30 days, this data bundle may meet your browsing needs. 1GB Internet Browsing Plan This is our most preferred deal for cheap internet browsing in Nigeria on GSM. The 1GB internet browsing bundle offers 30-day 24/7 internet access limited to 1GB data for N3,000. Currently two networks offer the 1GB bundle, they are Glo and Airtel. It strikes the right balance between price, convenience, and data usage limit. Although both offer the same deal, we recommend Glo, because they seem to offer better quality internet service than Airtel. If you need more than 500MB data access in a month, Airtel or Glo 1GB internet browsing package is your best choice. Note however, that depending on your browsing needs, the 1GB may be too much for you especially if you browse with your mobile phone. If your monthly internet browsing need is less than 400MB, the 1GB internet bundle is not the best for you. You should consider Glo Always Micro, MTN 500MB, Swift Liberty Plus, or MTN 250MB. 500MB internet browsing package Etisalat 500MB internet browsing bundle was the first 500MB internet browsing bundle and at launch was the best priced internet bundle in Nigeria offering 500MB for N3,000. However, Glo with its aggressive pricing has since made this package less attractive. But, now MTN brought new life to the 500MB bundle by pricing it at N2,000. At N2,000, the MTN 500MB mobile internet bundle makes more sense. MTN 500MB is a good deal if you need more than 200MB but less than 500MB in a month. Etisalat has now revamped its 500MB browsing plan pricing it similar to MTN at N2,000. 200MB internet browsing packages Etisalat and Glo offer 200MB internet browsing bundles priced at N1,000. The 200MB internet package from Glo and Etisalat are great deals for browsing directly on your mobile phone. If you need less than 200MB in a 30-day period these browsing deals are very compelling. They are great for entry level users, definitely better than going to a cyber cafe. The 200MB internet browsing bundles from Glo and Etisalat are our best pick for entry level internet package if you want 24/7 internet access on your mobile phone . The 200MB Internet browsing plan are not for users who do lots of downloads and uploads. Remember that once you use up your 200MB internet browsing allocation, even if it is just 2 hours after you activated, your internet access will be deactivated. Hence the 200MB internet browsing plan, although better than 100MB internet browsing bundles, is for users with limited internet needs. Other great Internet packages Swift 300MB priced at N1,500 is a good deal if you need more than 200MB but less than 300MB in a month. It is a good deal for testing out the Swift Network, before making a huge commitment. MTN also offers a compelling 250MB internet browsing bundle priced at N1,600. Here are more 100MB internet browsing packages This internet browsing package offers 30 days access to the internet limited to 100MB of data usage at just N1,000. This browsing package is offered by MTN and Airtel (former Zain). Although 100MB allocation is small, the 100MB internet browsing packages are very popular, especially for entry level users who are tired of the cat and mouse game that goes with using free internet cheats. It provides an affordable internet browsing package and if used miserly may last for up to 30 days. The 100MB internet browsing package makes more sense if you want to browse with your mobile phone. The 100MB internet browsing bundle is a great internet browsing package for 24/7 internet access on your mobile phone. However, you can still use the internet browsing package with your laptop or desktop. The 100MB browsing bundles are not for users who do lots of downloads and uploads. At a price of N3,500 it is very compelling night browsing bundle. MTN used to offer the cheapest Night internet browsing package in Nigeria, but now Airtel has joined them. The cheap internet browsing bundles from MTN and Airtel offers internet access at night daily for 30 days limited to a data usage of 3GB at a price of N2,500. The advantage of the MTN night internet and the Airtel internet browsing plans is their affordability and the high data usage limit. However, because you can use it only at night, it may not be okay for a number of people. You will have to wait until 9pm before you can start browsing, which will not be convenient for some of people. MultiLinks 50 hours internet package MultiLinks is the only CDMA operator that made it in our list with two cheap internet packages. The MultiLinks 50 hours internet browsing package offers 50 bundled hours of internet usage for N3,400. It is a good internet browsing package for entry level users. However 50 hours of internet access in a month may be too small for people who spend a lot of time online. MultiLinks 20GB Night internet package One factor that may endear this internet browsing package with users apart from its affordability is the high data usage limit of 20GB. It offers internet access from 12 midnight to 8am daily for 30 days limited to a data usage of 20GB at a price of N3,500. Like all night internet browsing packages you have to wait until night before you can start browsing the internet. The fact that the MultiLinks night internet browsing package is not active until 12 midnight may put off a number of people, but looking at the internet browsing package very well, especially the fact that the internet browsing package is active until 8am and the 20GB data limit may make it irresistible to a number of users.
